DISCOVERY
We set up an initial discovery meeting to describe and talk about the aims of the project. This involved setting up a trello board, making sure that everyone knew their roles and responsibilities within the project and a workshop that worked through the brand and audiences.
USE CASES
Whenever we do any web design we like to look at things from the audience perspective. So we had a use case workshop, where we list all of the different types of audience and users and understand what they're looking to try and achieve by coming to the website.
UI/UX DESIGN
We put together some quick UI design examples based on a pre-designed theme. In this particular instance, we used Shopify to deliver this, so we found a theme that we knew was going to work well for this particular product.
WEBSITE BUILD
After this we would have gone into the development mode — where we set up the website, set up our repository, and set up all the internals of the site. So the basis purpose platform, then we would have also looked into getting together the different stock and product items.
CATALOGUE UPLOAD
We collect the different stock and product items from the client to form spreadsheets. We then import them, making sure there is a good system in place so that when the client wants to add new products they can do so quickly and easily. At this stage we make any required alterations to the base code to ensure that everything works for all the different needs.
SHIPPING
One important aspect of this project was calculating the shopping costs. Huqsui sell boards in various sizes and amounts that can be a bit too big for some carriers. We needed to make sure that the customers buy at least 5 boards to actually check out through the system, and is matched to a carrier that can handle the board size to their chosen delivery location.
TESTING
We then start front end testing, this can take the form of browser testing, device testing, payment service provider testing etc. We also want to test against W3C to make sure that it's semantically good. If we're working on SEO, we might do some SEO tests on that as well.
LAUNCH
Once everything has gone through the client for approval and they are happy, we’re ready to help with the launch and switch on. We will then make sure everything is working properly.
He / him. Paul is a tech lover. One of Rusty Monkey’s developers, he spends a lot of time playing with gadgets, and loves trying to fix broken tech. He’s an eco nut. Loves nature. Amateur triathlete, and an even more amateur musician. Plays too many computer games. He dreams of living in a futuristic utopia where we all get on and have a lovely time. Be excellent to each other.
He / him. Tom is a pioneer of technical solutions and unrivalled "edge case thinker". If you have a problem, chances are he saw it coming, and can write some code to fix it. As Technical Director, he oversees all the nerdy work we do, as well as getting beard-deep in the coding of advanced web and app development projects. Powered by the Raspberry Pi in his pocket and genetically descended from a cat, Tom is a 3D printing, statistic loving, real ale drinking, blimp drawing legend.
He / him; yellow. Creative jack-of-all-trades, Matt is "dangerously knowledgeable" in almost every facet of marketing. His favourite field is branding, and he loves developing inspiring, daring brand identities for organisations who are ready to do something different. But he's equally talented at front end web development and developing digital strategies. He's also the front man and guitarist in local parody heavy metal outfit Evil Scarecrow, plus a huge fan of music, eating in nice restaurants, and going on holiday.
She / her; red / blue. Mel is a writer, editor and designer. Equally happy hiking a muddy trail as playing tabletop roleplay games by candlelight. Will seize any opportunity for a party, as long as said party features copious food, prosecco and hits from the 1980s. Her true passion lies in words. A student of literature, she is fascinated by enduring myths, etymology and science fiction. Kurt Vonnegut is her hero. “We are here on Earth to fart around, and don't let anybody tell you different.”

Launch
Husqui are an offshoot of Mainline Mouldings who sell picture frame mouldings and supplies to the framing world. Their unique selling point is that their core product range substitutes timber frames for an eco alternative. They are a company who really care about their people and our environment.
Mainline Mouldings wanted to test the market for eco composite decking, by launching a new e-commerce store separate to their main business, called Husqui. This brand is slightly different to Mainline Mouldings, so they sought advice on how to appeal to a different audience and required guidance on the technology and delivery of the project. They had a specific budget it mind which they wanted us to work with.
To avoid this new product getting lost on their main site that sells mouldings, a new website was required to keep it separate. A new website would give them greater control over the new product, allowing them to effectively manage the different products they want to sell, without interfering with the bespoke nature of their Mainline Mouldings site.
We were able to do this by initially helping them understand the platforms that are out there, and which would be best suited for this specific project, audience, timeframe and budget.
Mel from our creative guild and Paul from our dev guild, led by our wizard, Matt.
"It's a great feeling when we find clients that we work so well with. It was a joy working with Chris, Ricky and Jo to launch their new eco product for summer. We can't wait to work on our next project together." — Matt
We met their budget, timeframe and goals and created something we are personally really proud of. They wanted everything to be live for the middle of spring, so that they could reach the summer market. And thus, the deadline was one of the most important aspects of this project. We made it happen and delivered on time, which was no small feat! We discovered we worked well with Chris, Ricky and Joanne, so it also led onto a larger project with their main site Mainline Mouldings.
